If you are new to the area, we would like to tell you a little about Colchester and why we love it here. Never been to Colchester? We are a quiet, historic town, which was founded in 1698.
Colchester is rated a B+ in 2023-2025 by Niche as a highly suburban-rural mix town, known for it’s safe environment, and strong community feel. It is ranked amongst the best places to live and raise a family in New London County.
Another award which was bestowed on Colchester in 2013 by CNN, Money Magazine was “8th Least Crowded Place to Live in the Nation”, based on the panoramic views and access to the Airline Trail.
Finally, Colchester has been recognized by Money Magazine in 2005 as the 57th “Best Place to Live” in the Country.
Colchester has so many wonderful characteristics that make this town a wonderful place to live! The town of Colchester is a beautiful mix of suburban and rural areas, with everything you need right here in town. You are but a quick drive away from grocery stores, pharmacies, doctors, golf courses, restaurants and activities on the Town Green. Colchester is centrally located to so many of the State of Connecticut top attractions! Within a 20-30 minute drive, you are at the Connecticut Shoreline; Mohegan Casino; Foxwood Resort Casino; Mystic Seaport and so very much more!
We are 37 miles to Bradley International Airport, 56 miles to TF Green in Providence, RI, and 58 miles to Tweed Airport in New Haven.
